Nonprofit

A nonprofit, or nonprofit organization, is an entity that operates for purposes other than generating profit. Rather than distributing surplus revenues to owners or shareholders, a nonprofit reinvests any excess funds back into its social, educational, charitable, or community-focused mission. Nonprofits can take various forms, including charities, foundations, educational institutions, and advocacy groups. They often rely on donations, grants, and volunteer support to fulfill their objectives. Nonprofits are typically recognized as tax-exempt under specific provisions of the law (such as 501(c)(3) status in the United States), which allows them to receive tax-deductible contributions from donors. The primary goal of a nonprofit is to serve the public good or a specific cause rather than to pursue financial gain.
